The Eagles Autism Challenge: Inspiring Families

Eagles Autism Challenge

In response to the growing need for quality autism services and events, Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie created the Eagles Autism Challenge. The annual fundraising event presented by the Philadephia Eagles football team was designed to help support the growing needs of the neurodivergent population while giving families a chance to have a great experience together.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is personally touched by neurodiversity in his family. He recognized early on that the inability to access critical autism support is a hardship for people trying to provide their neurodiverse families with the quality of life they deserve.

Presented by Lincoln Financial Field, this year’s event will be on Saturday, May 21, 2023. The Eagles Autism Challenge has something for everyone: a 5K run/walk, cycling, sensory activities, and more.

What is the Eagles Autism Challenge?

The primary goal of the Eagles Autism Challenge is to create solution-based strategies to increase autism research that results in breakthroughs. They hope future findings may one day lead to treatment options that could change lives. The core belief behind the event is that by funding autism research, we can understand behaviors and symptoms in a way that leads individuals with autism to live more rewarding lives.

This one-of-a-kind fundraiser has already raised over $16 million for organizations and research that provide critical services to those in need. Funds from the event support occupational, physical, and speech therapy programs. Social skills groups, adult day programs; residential support; and many more. Additionally, sources go to doctors and experts in autism at premier institutions.

The event provides a day of inspiration and community engagement that offers families the opportunity to make memories and learn more about autism. Providing various ways to participate makes this event accessible, inclusive, and worth researching!

How will the Eagles Autism Challenge benefit families facing autism spectrum disorder?

The Eagles Autism Challenge is an important event for people with autism and their families. The event will help to raise awareness of autism and its behaviors. Partnering with influential brands can change how future generations of companies consider and work with neurodivergence. Events like this one help demystify stigma and promote education.

How can people get involved in the Eagles Autism Challenge?

The Eagles Autism Challenge makes it easy for everyone to get involved. Individuals can register to participate in the 5K walk/run or the cycling challenge. Teams can also register to participate in other challenges, like a football throw-and-catch tournament, a scavenger hunt, and more.

In addition, people can donate to the event or purchase autism awareness merchandise from the Eagles Autism Challenge website. No matter how you actively participate, you’ll make a difference in the lives of those with autism by just contributing.

What does the event include?

The event includes various activities, from a 30-mile ride to junior rides, 5K walks, and sensory experiences. Participants can also expect to enjoy music, food, and entertainment at the event. The Eagles Autism Challenge is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a celebration and a chance to get moving!

How will this event help individuals on the spectrum overcome past obstacles?

The Eagles Autism Challenge will improve the quality of life for individuals with autism by helping them communicate, make friends, and access programs to live more independently. It will also help to raise autism awareness and show the world neurodivergent people are more than a diagnosis. Individuals with autism perceive things differently and uniquely relate to the world. Seeing the world differently is not only okay, but in many ways, it enhances life by making it richer with diversity!
